This group is designed to highlight basic social interactions such as instructions-following and routines, functional communications skills, and positive non-verbal communication skills (such as eye contact) that are critical to everyday living. Each session will last approximately one hour. This play-based learning will be instructed using the pivotal response training technique.

Stepping Out Socially - higher functioning autism or Asperger’s Syndrome:

Groups will focus on understanding social ques, dealing with social frustrations such as anger and social anxiety, and handling oneself appropriately at social events. This group will take outings within the community to practice the skills taught.

Advanced Social Networking - adolescents and young adults:

“Social Networking” will focus on, not only improving pro-social behaviors, but quality of life as well. This unique group will give adolescents and young adults opportunities to develop friendships and maintain relationships through peer mediation, cognitive behavioral approaches, and much more. Advanced Social Networking will also include learning pro-social behaviors and practicing these skills in the form of bi-monthly outings in the community.
